About the Book The book postulates that faith in the innate divinity, basic goodness and intrinsic altruism has been the driving force for human existence, growth and development. Based upon the faith, it offers an approach for management develop sensitivity to be able to feel the needs of other without being asked. The components of such an approach are maternalistic management, Spandan (heartbeat)and Universal Oneness. To translate the approach into reality, the book offers, 3 D Process of inculcation of Human Values in organisations. The assumption and experience is that such inculcation and integration of values enables the management achieve an optimal balance between Results and Relations – paving the way for evolution of what is called as Functionally Humane Organisation. About the Author G.P. Rao is M.A. (Economics), Born in 1937, PG Diploma in Management, IIM Calcutta and D. Phil on the thesis, Industrialisation and Worker Protest. Taught in IIM, Calcutta (1966-70), Panjab University, Chandigarh (1971-81) and had been Senior Professor and founding Head of Department of Management Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. His teaching, research, training and consultancy interests have had been Managerial Communication, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Human Values in Management. The two major assignments, which helped Rao obtain deeper insights in the field, have been Sir Ratan Tata Visiting Fellowship, MCHV IIM, Calcutta (1995-96) and AICTE Emeritus Fellowship (1999-2002). The initiative taken by the participating industrial organisations and management institutions in the AICTE Study led to the formation of Spandan as NGO-of which Rao has been Founder Chairman since its inception in 2002.
